I like movies, maybe just a little bit.

I mean, it’s only Cinematography that inspired me to ever pick up a camera and try my hand at Still Photography….

My buddy, Eddie Furth, said something great when we both first moved to Los Angeles. We headed to Century City one night to catch a movie (I believe we went to see American Hustle).  Eddie said something to the effect of, “It is so great to live in a place that respects and honors movies…”

I agreed. The amount of theaters in Los Angeles, the size of them, the advanced screenings of the biggest blockbuster films, it’s all gravy. I was excited for the Oscars in 2014. I guess it felt (feels) really cool to be living so close to where the infamous awards ceremony takes place.

The Oscars that year were on March 2nd, 2014 and took place at the Dolby Theatre, naturally. Again, I was excited, and I just wanted to take in the ambiance and vibe of it all, so I went down to the Dolby Theatre. I didn’t expect to see any stars anything as the ceremony would be the following evening. It was very cool to see the statues being set up and “the red carpet.”

Random trivia about this post: the day I went down there, it was a torrential downpour. All of 2014 there was a talk of drought. By the time we got to November and December, radio stations were talking about how it had been months since our last substantial rainfall. Well this day...was that day they were referring to. There was flooding on Hollywood Blvd and the surrounding streets. It was a mess. Why did I decide to continue? I don’t know, but it was still fun and the rain didn’t stop the Oscars. The three images of you see that are indoors, the Oscar statue and the stairs were photographed on the day mentioned at the top of the page, March 1st, 2014. But just for fun I included a cell phone shot from the 2015 Oscars set up, because I was glad that it didn’t rain this year:
