A long-time family friend, Gloria, celebrated her 60th birthday party at the Knights of Columbus in Stamford, CT.

I was very glad her daughter, my friend, Cherice, asked me to photograph the event.  The previous year, 2012, came to a relatively slow end, photographically speaking, so I was looking to getting a good start to the year. Friends and family arrived with plenty of hugs and hellos, and then it was just flat out a good time.  It was nice to see a lot of family and church friends from the Fairfield County area, partying and dancing:

Lastly, the title of this post comes from the start of the honoree's speech.  Champagne glasses were ready for a toast, Gloria grabbed the mic and the first thing she said... 

"You know they say 60 is the new 40 right?" 

 It was fantastic. Congratulations Gloria. I hope her 6...40's treat her well:
