2017 was my year of hiking.

I made a real effort last year to hike as early and often as possible. I was wowed by many great SoCal trails, and Central Coast trails. I knew I wanted to keep the trend going in 2018 and within the first week of the year, I opened up the trusty All Trails app and looked for a trail near the Pacific Ocean.

Mugu Peak Trail was among the many Malibu trails, and on a cloudy morning I was able to reach the 2.7 mile, 1234 ft gain, loop trail near the Pacific. Getting there just near sunrise offered some interesting color combos.

Can I be honest? The holiday cookies from December really got to me, and I was ready to quit on this hike. Steep hills. Out of shape. I pulled through though. Hope you enjoy:
