This location was another gem from, Discover Los Angeles.

I mentioned in the page Baldwin Hills Overlook, that I have found many great LA attractions thanks to the website: www.discoverlosangeles.com. They have a Facebook page and do a really great Photo of the Day. If something interesting catches my eye (which usually happens) I will do my homework on the photo and find the location.

One day, a few photos from Abalone Cove Shoreline Park appeared on Discover Los Angeles’ Facebook page. Target acquired. I hopped in the car with my camera and drove the short 45 minutes down to Rancho Palos Verdes. It was a pretty scenic drive, another one of those, “it feels like you’re on vacation when you live in California” moments. The Trump National Golf Club Los Angeles is not too far down the road from the Park and it boasts a few palatial ocean facing villas that give you a feeling of true escape from the day to day bustle of Los Angeles.

There were a few great hiking trails around Abalone Cove and I took it all in.  I got a good laugh out of that rattlesnake warning sign. Trust me, if I come across a rattlesnake, the last thing I'm going to do is get aggressively close to it and say disrespectful things to it...
