Ending on a good note.

2020 was an obvious challenge in many ways. I look back (writing this 7 days into the new year) realizing that there were plenty of silver linings to see and celebrate. This moment was one of them.

Three things that I love very much are movies, architecture and photographing Los Angeles. On a Friday, I happened to be near the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and, as always, I was struck by the sight of Renzo Piano’s design for the Academy Museum. I wish I could say this day was something out of the ordinary, but I am constantly LA-gazing and photographing the ambiance of the city. It was at sunset which lent for some nice light the hitting the museum’s dome as well as some photogenic silhouettes. I only snapped a few shots, as in less than 10, and was satisfied. I would later post the images to Instagram and receive a golf clap amount of likes from my followers:

Then, a surprise…

Three days after sharing the images, I received a message from the Academy Museum’s Instagram account asking if they had my permission to share the images I posted on their page (with appropriate credit, of course). That was probably the easiest yes I’ve ever given to a question. Like, I mentioned, film is one of the loves of my life. I’m shamelessly a fan of actors, directors, composers and cinema as a whole, so what an honor to have one of, if not the most prestigious film organization ask if my work could contribute to their public expression. What a nice little gift to end the year.
